This weekend I finished caulking and painting this section of the board and batten in our kitchen.

The top and base trim still needs to be bought and added but we are really liking how it looks so far. I shared here my inspiration and plans to add some more architectural interest to our builder home.

Except for the top and base trim, both ends and the kitchen side of this wall are almost finished.
The wall colour is Benjamin Moore Stone House CC-120 and the trim colour is Benjamin Moore Snowfall White OC-118. Lighting for photos today is not the best. We are getting more snow! How appropriate that the paint colour I chose is called Snowfall White!

It has taken a long time to get to this point, but after almost a month of vertigo I now feel safe standing on a ladder to continue the caulking and painting of the soffit trim. We just bought a flat screen tv for the family room and I'm getting impatient to get started on the trim but I promised myself that I would finish the soffit above the cabinets before starting on the fireplace and tv side of the wall. Now if only I can get motivated after work one day this week.

The next part:
The caulking and painting takes more time than putting the boards up, but seeing it come together makes it worth the work.

Oh yes, it is definitely worth it! It looks great. I am so jealous of you guys, putting up board and batten all over. Would love it too, but halas that project idea didn't get a green light from the one I love.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with finishing the last bits of this project (always the hardest).

I saw you over at the DIY showoff. I just love your board and batten. I am your latest follower. I would love for you to come and check out my blog and follow me back. We just finished a board and batten project in our mudroom. Yours is really cool. Looking forward to keeping up with your blog.
ReplyDeleteWow.. looking great! I am ALSO in the midst of doing board and batten all through my entryway and up the stairs. It's taken much longer than anticipated, but its definitely worth all the work don't you think?
ReplyDeleteThis is a great project. I adore woodwork- I have a similar design in my sitting room. Stop by Brambly and check out some of the woodwork we've done. The wonderful thing about adding woodwork is that it's classic and looks great with everything. Have a wonderful day!

I love your header Elizabeth! Lovely pictures.
ReplyDeleteYou guys did a great job on this molding. I looks fantastic. What a great idea.
Congrats on winning Tina's giveaway!
This is incredible...I so wish I had the skills to do something like this. You definitely added character! Well done.
ReplyDeleteThat turned out great. I like the thicker vertical pieces. I have seen some walls done with a thinner plank, but they don't quite have the look I'm going for. This is more of what I was thinking of.
ReplyDeleteI was just down at the big box store the other night scouting out the wood for a project much like yours. I'm starting with my bathroom and the style that you've developed with your board and batten is great, hope you don't mind me being a copy cat! Oh....and I can certainly understand the vertigo work stoppage, I suffer from the same thing and a ladder is not your friend when you have a flair up. Thanks again for sharing.
